Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar won the trust vote in the assembly, proving his majority with the support of 126 MLAs.

The JD(U), with its 118 MLAs, needed 122 to pass the floor test. MLAs of the Congress, CPI and four Independents voted for the motion.

All 91 MLAs of the BJP, with whom JD(U) snapped ties on Sunday, staged a walkout from the Assembly, and 24 members including 22 of the RJD and two Independents voted against the government.
