According to the All India Survey of Higher Education (AISHE), 18.2 million girls enrolled in higher education in 2018-19, constituting 49% of the total students enrolled. When traced back to 2010-11 AISHE report, it revealed a rise by 1416 % in the enrollment of women. The data further revealed how the gender gap is narrowing in the higher education system of India. However, it was noted that the number of Indian women in the workforce has had a decadal fall between 2005 to 2018.
