There are 10 million Tuberculosis (TB) cases around the world. A third of them are in India according to the Global Tuberculosis Report 2018 published by World health Organisation (WHO).

Tuberculosis is a disease that primarily affects the lungs. It is an airborne disease that can be spread by actions like coughing.

India is way behind from eliminating the disease from the country. Between 2016-17, TB cases in India fell only by 1.7%. This is way less than the global average of 2%. Even the rate of TB deaths went down only by 3% in India during the same period.
