2019: IndiaSpend’s Reporting On Climate Adaptation, TB Care Win Prestigious Awards

In September 2019, IndiaSpend reporting fellow Disha Shetty won the second prize in the “Best Article and Photograph on a Humanitarian Subject” category from the Press Institute of India and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The award was for Shetty’s story on climate migrants from the Sunderbans, published in December 2018.


In July, IndiaSpend writer Shreehari Paliath received a special mention at the RedInk Awards of the Mumbai Press Club for his story on the role played by a poor-women’s collective in rebuilding flood-wrecked Kerala in 2018.


IndiaSpend contributor Menaka Rao won the Reach Media Award in October 2019 for her four-part series for IndiaSpend on Kerala’s fight against tuberculosis and what it can teach India.


In November 2019, IndiaSpend’s principal correspondent Bhasker Tripathi won the Young Environmental Journalist of the Year Award for 2019, given by the Indian Himalayas Climate Adaptation Programme and the Centre for Media Studies’ Vataran initiative.
