RAJASTHAN, INDIA September 19, 2010: Premature baby twins at the Facility Based Newborn Care Unit (FBNCU) at the Medical College of Udaipur. The Unit was first established with UNICEF support in Jaipur and the Udaipur facility has not been funded directly by UNICEF but developed on a model piloted by UNICEF in Tonk district, Jaipur.It’s purpose is to provide services to pregnant women, premature and sick babies and to educate women of the benefits of going to hospital to give birth. It has been responsible for a dramatic rise in survival rates of newborns.
