NEW CENTRE-STATE DYNAMIC: INDIASPEND & SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE: PUNE, FEBRUARY 16, 2015
CALL FOR PAPERS
IndiaSpend & Symbiosis School of Economics (SSE) invite you to participate in a conference titled “India’s Centre-State Equations: Understanding the New Dynamic”, focusing on the role of the states in delivering economic and social infrastructure to citizens. The conference will be held in Pune on February 16, 2015 at the Symbiosis campus.
Theme of the Conference
The government has allocated Rs.2,59,000 Crores to the states in the Union Budget 2014. This appears to be a positive step towards decentralization of control of funds, making Indian federalism stronger. It has been argued that this positive step will allow the states more control over the flagship programs. The objective of this conference is to review the states’ past performance in welfare schemes and discuss the implications for future success.
Potential contributors should look at centrally sponsored schemes from the perspective of the states.
- How the center-state relations in India effect implementation and the performance of schemes in different states.
- Comparative studies of different states
- Examination of policies as case studies
The various themes/categories under which papers can be submitted are:
1. 10th, 11th12th Plan
2. Flagship Programmes (list of flagship programmes-these cover both Urban and Rural schemes)
